Monday Motivation

Mondays can be hard to get through sometimes. Especially when you’re still slightly on West Coast time and have to be up and at ‘em early for another work week. For that reason, I want to share something each Monday that gets me motivated. There won’t really be a theme to these posts, but I hope at least some of them will resonate and help power you forward through the start of the week.

This week, it’s about horses (shocker). The incredible Longines Global Champions Tour of Paris took place this weekend, with the Eiffel Tower standing prominently in the background of so many stunning photos. It’s an event I can only dream of one day getting to watch in person. Until then, the Global Champions live stream will have to suffice.

Though it was a week of star-studded events with many impressive rounds and exciting wins, the most motivational win, in my opinion, came from Germany’s Christian Ahlmann and his 10-year-old home-bred stallion Take A Chance On Me Z. His blazing fast jump-off won him the €300,000 Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Paris CSI 5* only days after he and his wife welcomed a new baby girl, Ella.

Ahlmann said: “It has been an amazing week. I already had my daughter Ella born on Monday. My concentration was not what it should be. Judy wasn’t happy when I went (to the show). She said I better do well this weekend. I think she is happy now!”

His win this weekend qualified him for the LGCT Super Grand Prix at the Prague Playoffs in November. And if one win wasn’t enough for him, Ahlmann took the win on Sunday in the Longines Eiffel Challenge with 14-year-old mare Ailina. The next stop on the world tour is Chantilly, where we are sure to see even more exciting competition.

“Take A Chance On Me is a family horse, he is 10 and by my former Grand Prix horse, Taloubet Z, and he is also a breeding stallion. Take A Chance was a late horse at growing into the sport and now he ready for it, really working for it. He is a quality horse who feels well and today I had an unbelievable feeling between the fencees, it was a lot of fun and really gave me confidence.” - Christian Ahlmann

Hope this serves as a little slice of motivation regardless if you’re a horse person or not!
