Wifi has been pretty sketchy so I haven't been able to post about our awesome Duke in Madrid trip to Galicia, the far northwest region of Spain. It was such a different vibe from the city and I loved every area we were able to visit while we were there! From Santiago de Compostela to A Coruña, we traveled all through the region and visited some adorable little mountain towns and saw so many breathtaking views. We also stayed at a lodge that felt just like summer camp, with group meals and even dogs and cats! It was a great bonding experience for the whole group and a really cool way to see a more rural side of Spain. The language there was a little different, but the lodge taught us a bit about the special Gallega dance and music of the region, and made us their special drink, which they call la quemada (they actually burn pots of it before serving it). It was all oddly witch-like, but really cool! The drink wasn't the tastiest though. But the food I was served all week was incredible! So much fish, since this area is known for that. The first night's dinner was salted cod (bacalao) with veggie soup, and the second night was tuna and veggie empanadas and mushroom risotto. The staff at the lodge was so nice and I felt so welcome there the whole time. It was such a lovely and cozy place!
